AFRICA AS SHE WAS, AS SHE IS, AND AS I DREAM SHE BECOMES

The first civilized man lived here thousands of years ago, and the world's civilization started from his home in the Olduvai Gorge of modern day Tanzania. From here civilization spread to the rest of the world. Africa in later years became known for greatness, technology and literature, even when the rest of the world was in darkness. But today, when i watch the news, the African headlines carry news of poverty, human-trafficking, ethnic-wars, bribery and corruption, hunger, under-development, and the faces of hungry children fill my screen whenever i watch African news, today black faces have become the norm for the portrayal of poverty, disease and hunger, on magazines, newspapers and on TV screens.
As a kid, i was told to pray for the redemption of Africa, just as my aunties and uncles were asked to pray for Africa, even now as an adult, the prayers that have been prayed for generations, even continued today are yet to yield any positive result, i have come to be disillusioned towards this prayers, the answer to these prayers are not in the prayers but rather in the actions of the African people, the mentality of the African people needs to be re-oriented, the era of great Empires, kingdoms, raw power, and Warriors, is over, now we need warriors in a different Battlefield to create kingdoms and Empires of a new era, where equity, growth, advancement, resourcefulness, Philanthropy, selflessness, love, peace, and harmony would be our only weapons of war and expansion. I dream of an Africa where ethnicity would no longer be the base on which the framework of politics would stand, i dream of an Africa where our religion would no longer be a criteria for choosing our social associations, and political inclination, i dream of an Africa where justice, equity and transparency rules, in all spheres of life. I dream of an Africa where bribery & corruption would be history, i dream of an Africa where peace & progress would take over strife & stagnation. I know, i might not be around when my dream for a new Africa would become completely manifested in reality, but i would be a failure if at the end i do not succeed in being a fighting force for this dream, and this failure would extend to every African who reads this and yet ignore to fight for a new African continent.
MAMA AFRICA CALLS, I WILL ANSWER, WILL YOU?
